Houston, famous for international business, the NASA space center, its world renowned medical center, and its champion sports teams, is also one of those rare American cities offering internationally-lauded arts organizations in all disciplines: opera, ballet, symphony, theater and visual arts.
To complement the artistic endeavors of the private sector, the City of Houston's ongoing vision to emphasize public art continues to expand the opportunities for citizens to enjoy art in public spaces.
All new permanent and temporary art proposals and restoration projects, which are located on city property, are administered through the Civic Art Office.
