- Where is the City's surplus warehouse?
The Asset Disposition Office and warehouse is located at 2511 Broad Street, 4 miles south of downtown, west of Interstate 45 (Use the Broad Street Exit).
- What are the hours of operation?
Office hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, except weekends and Holidays. The facility is open to the general public for inspection of Internet auction items from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon and from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM daily. - What types of items are available at the City surplus auctions?
Items available may vary from auction to auction and day to day but miscellaneous items usually include used office furniture, computer equipment, stereos, televisions, telephones, cell phone, pagers, jewelry, bicycles, sports equipment, lawn maintenance equipment, office machines, tools and luggage. Property can normally be previewed and inspected while the item is posted on the Internet. - How can I buy City surplus property?
Internet Auctions are the standard method of disposal of miscellaneous surplus property. These auctions are open to the general public and property is sold to the highest bidder "As Is, Where Is". Houston Auto Auction sells City surplus vehicles every Wednesday. - Is City surplus property available to non-profit or charitable organizations?
Surplus furniture and microcomputer equipment property may be sold at fair market value to charitable non-profit organizations, school districts and other government agencies. Organizational representatives may inspect and purchase surplus used property at the City's surplus property warehouse located at 2511 Broad Street by appointment only. Appointments may be scheduled between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday except holidays. Organizational representatives must provide the following information to inspect and purchase property:
- A copy of certificate and determination of 501c status.
- An official letter of need signed by an officer of the organization.
- A valid ID.

- Does the City donate surplus property?
The City does not donate surplus property. Surplus property is available at Internet/public auctions and to qualified organizations at fair market value. Contact the warehouse at 713-847-5186 to determine if your organization qualifies.
