This Week at BARC

January 30, 2010 The BARC family gained 100+ new volunteers in our growing family of friends, fosters, rescues and volunteers. In my 10 plus years in Houston Saturday showed why Houston is the best City to be a part of! We as a family helped 83 of our future pets become some ones pet. We had 41 adoptions in one day- we had 112 new volunteers in one day. I want to thank Disney, City of Houston, and all of our volunteers, Friends of BARC for all helping without reservation to ensure we have the best chance for every future pet here at BARC to become someone pet. A special thank you goes out to Chatauqua and Ari for all their hard work and continued focus on making sure the name BARC is associated with caring and passion for helping every one our cats and dogs to find a home. There are so many rescue groups, fosters and volunteers I want to personally thank as I go out and see the work you do to help. We as community worked this one day to help, we as a city need to keep coming back to help ensure our shelter is the best it can be every time we have a dog or cat come spend some time here before find them a home. We will continue to work on making sure it is a clean and safe facility as well as have the best team to help our citizens and our future pets every day. Disney day was a huge success because of you Houston! Ari and Chatauqua thank you again!
We also do have the new cat building opening soon this coming month as well we have the hopes of having another Disney Day! Keep telling your friends and family to come down to BARC to see all the things we are doing and to get their pet from BARC!

January 15, 2010 -- Thanks go to so many of you for attending our Volunteer meeting on January 12. I hope you have a clear sense of a new management team entering a new decade at BARC. All the sadness of just a few short months ago: puppies down the drain, starving animals, no soft cat food and mistaken euthanasia is gone. BARC OFFERING PET ADOPTION GIFT CERTIFICATES AND DONATION OPTION
Picking out a new family member can be difficult and take much contemplation. You have to consider your living space (house or apartment), your children’s behavior, your other pets, and your lifestyle. With the new “Pet Adoption Certificate” currently available, would-be pet owners can take time to pick out their new family member with care and concern. A one-time donation to BARC in the amount of $55 dollars will purchase a gift certificate which the recipient can use to choose a pet of their choice at a later date. If animal adoption is not feasible, the certificate converts into a one-time donation to the many homeless shelter animals at BARC.
