100 Furry and Adoptable BARC Cosmic Companions To Invade Sawyer Heights PetSmart Saturday, September 29th
BARC's Biggest Offsite Pet Adoption Event In History to Break Adoption Records

September 28, 2012 - With an animal intake of over 500 over the last week, BARC Animal Shelter and Adoptions is taking its effort to save more lives than ever and win the ASPCA $100K Challenge to a whole new level. This weekend, BARC is taking 100 dogs and cats to the biggest offsite adoption event in its history.  BARC employees and more than 50 BARC volunteers are in final preparations to bring more animals to the longest-lasting off-site adoption event EVER.  The event will be located at a great high-traffic retail location that is home to great vendors. BARC hopes to break records at the Cosmic Companions Mega Adoption event this Saturday, September 29, from noon to 8pm at the Sawyer Heights PetSmart located at 1907 Taylor St. Houston, 77007. Dogs/puppies will be $20 and cats/kittens will be $10.

"With such high intake numbers over the last few weeks, we are extremely motivated to save lives and break records during the ASPCA $100K Challenge. We have called upon every ounce of manpower and volunteer resources we can find to make this Saturday's event the most successful one we have ever had," said Alfred Moran, Director of the Administration and Regulatory Affairs Department which oversees BARC. "We really need Houstonians' help this weekend. We have numerous furry cosmic companions that deserve a wonderful new home and family."

BARC hopes to leave Saturday's event with only empty crates in tow. To help stir interest in the event, BARC has been circulating the flyer below which warns Houstonians to prepare themselves for the big invasion. The good news is that BARC is providing the perfect opportunity for Houstonians to adopt their very own cosmic companion before the alien invasion strikes. And luckily, they can take their dog or cat home with a free mind control deflector as pictured in the flyer, thanks to the massive deflector material donation (foil) provided by Freebirds World Burrito!

Whether or not Houstonians believe foreign creatures surround the universe, they can find the perfect companion at this Saturday's event. If an adopter can't find just the right pet for their family at the Sawyer Heights PetSmart, BARC invites them to visit its animal shelter at 3200 Carr Street, Houston, 77026 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. where there are hundreds more dogs and cats available for adoption.

Thanks to Houstonians' involvement in BARC's effort to win the ASPCA Rachael Ray $100,000 Challenge, 1,054 BARC dogs and cats have gone home with their forever families since August 1, 2012. Be sure to tune into BARC's YouTube Channel at www.YouTube.com/WeAreBARC to watch this week's video update on the ASPCA $100K Challenge and other recent BARC videos!
