BARC is also taking its animals to two special community events this weekend.  We will have animals available for adoption at the community-wide PetFest Old Town Spring event Saturday, October 20 and Sunday, October 21. The adoption fees will be $20 for dogs and $10 for cats. Visit Petfestoldtownspring.com to learn more about the times and location of the event.

BARC will also participate in Petoberfest 2012 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, located at 4918 Cochran Street, Houston 77009 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, October 20. The event will take place on the festival grounds. We will have $20 rabies vaccinations and $25 microchips available at the event. Plus, there will be a few animals available for adoption ($20 for dogs and $10 for cats).

BARC is also gearing up to win the ASPCA $100K Challenge's $25,000 Community Engagement Award. This award goes to the challenge contestant that most successfully gets their community involved in helping to gain online votes and engage in the effort to save more lives than ever.

By visiting www.votetosavelives.org and voting for BARC between Wednesday, October 17 and Wednesday, October 31, Houstonians have the opportunity to help BARC win a $25,000 grant to continue improving BARC's adoption program. If BARC supporters were unable to adopt a furry friend from BARC over the last couple of months, this is a perfect way to help support Houston's homeless animals. Voters just need a Facebook account in order to confirm their I.D. prior to voting.

The simplest, but most powerful thing you can do to help BARC, and pets throughout our community, is to talk to your friends, neighbors, and family about caring for pets responsibly. To donate to BARC online via the Houston BARC Foundation, click here.

We encourage everyone to visit BARC online at www.houstonbarc.com.
