Please Note The filing of this complaint with the City of Houston does not automatically constitute a formal protest of the applicant’s Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission license, but should be completed and submitted to the City for consideration no later than 30 days prior to the expiration of the license. The City cannot pursue complaints without sufficient documentation and witnesses. Please mail any available photographs or any other documents which are pertinent to this complaint to the Mayor's Citizens' Assistance Office, 900 Bagby, Public Level, Houston, TX 77002. This complaint form is used by the City only to determine whether the City will file or enter such a protest. Please be advised that the criteria for a protest are often complicated, so the existence of one or more of the attached incidents may not be sufficient to successfully protest a license.
The complainant may file a protest directly with the office of the Harris County Judge or the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, depending on the type of license to be protested regardless of whether the City formally protests the license or permit. The T.A.B.C., 427 W. 20th St., Houston, will provide you the name of the applicant, the type of alcohol permit and the expiration date of the permit. Phone 713.426.7900.
In order to maintain a protest, the T.A.B.C. requires the information alleged in a protest letter be detailed and specific as to the dates of the incidents, nature of the incidents and the location of the incidents. Letters of protest that do not sufficiently allege detailed grounds for denying a T.A.B.C. license will be rejected by the Commission.
