In 1993, the city bought the historic Star Engraving Building with the purpose of developing it into the Houston Center for the Arts (HCA).
Stages Repertory Theatre, a performing arts company for adult original works and children's theater, resides at this location, 3201 Allen Parkway.
The Houston Arts Alliance moved into the building in 1996 and occupies a substantial portion of the facility. The Bayou Preservation Alliance also calls HCA home.
The 46,741 square foot building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
