PUSH TOWARD BROADER APPEAL AND INCREASED INFORMATION ACCESS RESULTS IN ADDED FEATURES TO GEORGE R. BROWN CONVENTION CENTER WEB SITE
Spanish Translation Added, New “Opt-In” Feature Gives Visitors More Options

06.15.2006 -- In an effort to reach the growing population of broader, more international audiences, the George R. Brown Convention Center (GRBCC) has launched an updated version of its Web site, adding a Spanish-language version of the site and a feature allowing online users greater access to facility information.

The Spanish translation, which mirrors the English version of the Web site and provides complete facility information for meeting planners, exhibitors, attendees and Houston visitors, comes in response to the ongoing international business the convention center attracts.

“Houston has long been an epicenter for international business, and the Latin American market, in particular, is an important business and tourism generator for our city,” Luther Villagomez, general manager for the GRBCC said. “Adding the Spanish translation to our Web site speaks directly to the Latin American market. It’s an essential tool that can open up meeting and convention opportunities for us from those markets.”

The added “opt-in” feature allows visitors to the Web site to register to receive recent GRBCC news and information by e-mail. Options include receiving GRB NewsTrak, an online newsletter that provides event updates, announcements and achievements at the GRBCC, facility press materials and various special announcements. Users have the ability to receive all information options, share the information with colleagues and opt-out of the service at any time.

“Allowing clients, meeting professionals, colleagues, media and the general public the option to receive additional information about our facility not only broadens our scope in hitting home the message about the GRBCC, but it can also create a possible line of communication with a potential client, industry partner and other positive business relationships,” Villagomez added.

Both the Spanish version of the Web site and the “opt-in” feature are accessible via a click-through option on the home page of the GRBCC Web site at www.houstonconventionctr.com.
