FIVE INDUCTEES ADDED TO HOUSTON HALL OF FAME EXHIBIT AT GEORGE R. BROWN CONVENTION CENTER
08.29.2007 -- Legendary Houston mayor Bob Lanier and baseball icon Jeff Bagwell head the new group of inductees enshrined in the Houston Hall of Fame exhibit at the George R. Brown Convention Center (GRB).
Lanier was a popular, three-term mayor of Houston from 1992 to 1998, a period of great advancement for the city. Bagwell retired after the 2006 season as the Houston Astros' all-time leader in home runs, RBI, and walks.

Joining Lanier and Bagwell in the Houston Hall of Fame are international tennis star Zina Garrison, former U.S. Energy Secretary Charles W. Duncan Jr. and retired federal judge James DeAnda, who was inducted posthumously.
All five were honored during the annual City of Houston birthday celebration held August 28 in the George Bush Grand Ballroom at the GRB. The Hall of Fame exhibit flanks the exterior entrance of the ballroom and now numbers 28 inductees.
The Houston Hall of Fame features showcases consisting of a portrait, plaque and a personal artifact from Houstonians who have achieved unmatched excellence in the arts, athletics, business, entertainment, law, medicine and public service. Each inductee was either born in Houston or called Houston home during the time of their greatest achievements.
