The park is the convention center's new "front yard," providing a place for clients to escape and unwind. For meeting planners, Discovery Green offers new outdoor options for events taking place across from the GRB, including:
Offsite corporate events (Jones Lawn, a two-acre "great lawn," is ideal for this)
An outdoor general session in the amphitheater
Unique classroom sessions
Pre-event dinner meetings (two new restaurants are within easy walking distance)
A place for solitude between meetings
Discovery Green also includes a o ne-acre lake plus water basin designed for model boats, a jogging trail, a library service, and indoor and outdoor reading areas with Wi-Fi accessibility.
"We're really excited about what this park provides," said Luther Villagomez, general manager of the GRB. "We have a strong relationship with Discovery Green. Their staff is virtually an extension of ours, and that helps us take care of clients on a personal level."
Discovery Green (www.discoverygreen.com) also features two new restaurants, the Grove and the Lake House , both operated by the world-renowned Schiller-del Grande Group. An underground parking garage beneath the park serves both the GRB and the park with nearly 700 spaces.
