CITY OF HOUSTON SMOKING ORDINANCE The City of Houston Smoking Ordinance, which will take effect September 1, 2007, will prohibit smoking in enclosed public places, enclosed workplaces, within 25 feet of building entrances and exit doors, covered concourses of outdoor arenas and covered waiting areas for bus stops and light-rail stops. For a copy of the smoking ordinance, go to the Smoking Ordinance Website and click on Smoking Ordinance passed by City Council in October 2006 (takes effect September 1, 2007). The findings by the Trust for Public Land indicate that of the nation's 10 most populous cities, none had more total park space than Houston with 56,405 acres.
