Come and join us in celebrating the 2nd Annual Financial Empowerment Forum for People with Disabilities. You will receive valuable information on free Income Tax Preparation Services, Earned Income and Child Tax Credits, Housing and Employment Resources, Credit Management and Repair, Having a Bank Account and Using Direct Deposit, Identity Theft Prevention, and more.

DID YOU KNOW ...

• In 2007, families received $11 million in tax refunds by using one of 24 free tax preparation sites operated by trained volunteers through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
• You may qualify for up to $4,700 of Earned Income Credit.
  No fees, no penalties are paid by families who use a VITA site to have their federal income taxes prepared by a trained volunteer.

"Assuming that it costs a family at least $150 in tax preparation fees, HABC has saved families more than $1 million in tax preparation fees" said Sarah Kern, HABC Program Director. Refund Anticipation Loans (RALs) can cost you hundreds of dollars and you receive your tax refund/credit only 10 to 14 days sooner.
