There are new, affordable homes to be had in Houston and mortgage money, and down payment assistance are available. Mayor Bill wants you to know about a free opportunity to learn more about it, or share the information with a friend.

City SealThe Mayor's Office and the Greater Houston Builders Association is hosting COME HOME: “The Home Buying Process” on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the George R. Brown Convention Center, Hall B3 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Registration will begin promptly at 7:00 a.m.

At this event potential homebuyers will be able to connect with homebuilders, lenders, and service providers, such as the City of Houston's Homebuyers Assistance Program (HAP) to learn about the products and services that are available. There will also be an educational seminar on the Home buying process.

On this day potential homebuyers will be able to do the following:

  • GHBA LogoLearn about the home buying process and meet their lender;
  • Select their dream home – Participating builders offer affordable homes in a variety of floor plans;
  • Meet with Housing Counseling Agencies that can assist with securing a loan; and
  • Learn about programs that offer up to $30,000 in Down payment Assistance for income eligible families and up to $40,000 for police officers, firefighters, EMS Personnel and teachers.

The event is free and open to the public!
