Ms. Cleage has been a New York Times and Essence magazine bestseller, an Oprah's Book Club selection and an NAACP Image Award winner. While she writes from the perspective of a contemporary African American woman, her work transcends race and delves deep into the universal issues of the human condition. In her new novel, Seen It All And Done The Rest (One World/Ballantine), Cleage asks a question that will likely face us all: Can you ever truly go home again? Ms. Cleage has been praised for her "fluid prose," "killer instinct," and "exciting, fast moving" stories. True to form, Seen It All And Done The Rest is poised to add even more accolades to this list. The evening with Ms. Cleage is part of an ongoing series. The Houston Public Library invites you, your friends and your neighbors to meet well-known authors from several genres. Relationships, mysteries and faith are just a few of the topics to be presented. As part of the series, events will be held throughout the city at neighborhood libraries. Pearl Cleage has written many bestsellers, including What Looks Like Crazy On An Ordinary Day , which was an Oprah Book Club pick. She is also an award-winning poet and playwright. Her poem We Speak Your Names was commissioned by Oprah Winfrey for her legends ball in 2005.
