Wellness Weekend Street Closures

TOUR DE HOUSTON – Tour de Houston Presented by Apache Corporation is a fundraising bike ride that benefits Houston's Reforestation Program and is a recommended BP MS 150 training ride. Cyclists of all levels will gather at City Hall on Sunday, March 17th as the event returns for its 14th year to benefit the Re-Plant Houston Program managed by the Houston Parks and Recreation Department. Riders will follow a new route this year heading northeast through the Greater Heights communities and Summerwood to Lake Houston before returning downtown. The 20-mile route will stop at Kipp Academy on Tidwell, the 40-mile route will stop at U.S. Steel on Mount Houston and the full 60-mile route will stop at Dwight D. Eisenhower Park. CLOSURES: - From 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16th to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2019. * 400-500 McKinney (north curb lane) and 400-500 Walker (north and south curb lane) - From 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16th to 6:00 p.m. (or sooner) on Sunday, March 17, 2019. * Smith between Rusk and McKinney. * Walker between Louisiana and Bagby. - Sunday, March 17, 2019 * McKinney between Smith and Bagby from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. * Smith between Rusk and Lamar from 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

BAYOU CITY CLASSIC – For those who prefer to leave the bike at home, the Bayou City Classic Presented by Apache Corporation will begin at 8:20 a.m., Saturday, March 16 at City Hall looping through Downtown and along portions of Allen Parkway with a finisher's shirt and post-race party at the finish line. Proceeds from the 10K Race and the family-friendly 5K Fun Run & Walk will be donated to The Houston Parks Board for the purchase of trees. Register now at http://www.bayoucityclassic.org/
