CFCI Youth Voice Workshop on 7/15 - Help Us Spread the Word!

The Mayor's Office of Education is inviting HS youth from the City of Houston to participate in the final community assessment for the UNICEF Child Friendly Cities Initiative on July 15th 2021. This is the last chance for youth to voice their concerns and needs and share their ideas on how the City of Houston can become more child-friendly.

The community assessment workshops are part of a larger two-year process the City of Houston has embarked upon, toward recognition as a UNICEF Child Friendly City. Listening and learning from the community is an essential part of the workshops. The information gathered in the workshops will give city leaders a current understanding of youth experiences and will help develop the priority issue areas the Child Friendly City Initiative in the City of Houston.

Please help us spread the word and join the City of Houston in creating safe, child-inclusive cities and communities! We look forward to hearing from youth and appreciate your support in this effort.

Below please find a short blurb and event details you can share with youth and service providers, as well as a flyer attached. Please also share the RSVP link as we will send the zoom link to only those who have RSVP.

Share your Voice for a child-friendly city!
We are excited to hear from you and encourage you to be a leading voice for your community through UNICEF’s Child Friendly Cities Initiative (CFCI)!
CFCI was launched in 1996 by UNICEF to protect children’s rights in an increasingly urbanized and decentralized world. The initiative brings UNICEF together with local stakeholders to establish safer, more just, equitable, inclusive and child-responsive cities and communities around the world. Since its inception, CFCI has been adopted in over 3,000 municipalities in 57 countries.

CFCI is a UNICEF program that aims to promote children's rights and provides a framework to advocate for the safety, well-being, and success of children and families, especially the most vulnerable. The workshops will aim to get a better understanding of the current state of children's rights and youth wellness in the City of Houston.
