Join Mayor Parker for Bike to Work Day
The City of Houston is celebrating National Bike Month in May with a celebratory 4.5 mile loop bike ride on Friday, May 15, 2015. The event begins at City Hall, 901 Bagby at 7:30 a.m. and ends at City Hall at 8:00 a.m. It is followed by a free breakfast, music, prizes and a few words from Mayor Parker and an introduction to the upcoming Houston Bike Plan kickoff.
The ride will showcase a variety of bicycle facilities on Washington Avenue (shared lane marking), Silver Street (on street bike route), Spring Street (shared-use trail) and the Heights Hike and Bike Trail (off-street trail). Ride trains coming from the Heights, Midtown/Montrose, Museum District/West University, and the East Side will join the Celebratory Ride at designated locations.
Post ride celebrations will include sponsor giveaways, food, and music. Event sponsors include BikeHouston, B-cycle, Bike Barn, Corner Bakery, Shipley Do-nuts, YMCA and Zipcar.
