Notification of Capital Improvement Plan for Shaver Road
In order to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and improve drainage, the City of Houston Department of Public Works and Engineering (PWE) will be reconstructing Shaver Road from the Gulf Freeway (IH-45) to Galveston Rd (State Highway 3). The Shaver Road project is located in Council District EWBS No.: N-0000582-0001-3.
This project will include widening of Shaver Road from a 4-lane undivided roadway with open ditches to a 6-lane divided roadway with raised median, curb and gutter drainage, sidewalks, street lighting and improved underground utilities. The project, anticipated to begin in Spring 2013, also includes some improvements of the Berry Bayou as well as a new detention pond that flows around Shaver Road.
PWE has obtained the 404 Permit for the wetland and stream mitigation requirements by United States Army Corps of Engineer as well as the Satisfactory for Further Processing on Environmental Assessment by the Federal Highway Administration.
