Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities Announces Free Tax Prep Assistance for the Disability Community
Services Available to Eligible Citizens Fridays & Saturdays in March
The Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) will partner with Neighborhood Centers Inc. and United Way of Greater Houston to provide free tax preparation assistance, specifically catering to eligible citizens with disabilities. The services will be offered during March on Fridays, 1 - 4 p.m., and Saturdays, 1 - 3 p.m., at Neighborhood Centers, Baker-Ripley, 6500 Rookin Street 77074. MOPD will be on hand to issue free visual fire alarms to eligible citizens and register interested individuals for available City services for people with disabilities.
Upon advance request, accommodations and assistance by sign language interpreters will be made available. These requests may be made by calling the 2-1-1 Texas/United Way HELPLINE or the video phone line at 877.541.7905 at least 48 hours in advance.
The tax preparation sessions for the disabled community are in addition to numerous sessions intended for the eligible general public scheduled for March at locations throughout Greater Houston.
