March 2, 2010 Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup Kickoff
Houston, Texas has been named one of only three nationwide sites to host a Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup event! The City of Houston Solid Waste Management Department and Keep Houston Beautiful are eager to show our city's commitment. You're invited to join us in changing Houston for the better by participating in the Great American Cleanup Kickoff. The activities will include: Friday, March 5, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. - National Kickoff Rally, Sam Houston Park, 1100 Bagby, Houston, Texas 77002. We are asking citizens to show their support and come to our kickoff rally. There will be vendor booths where you can learn more about the environment and recycling, meet city officials, and receive t-shirts and other giveaways. There will also be free document shredding! Saturday, March 6, 2010, All day - Opportunities for volunteers: planting trees in Wiess Park, invasive plant removal at Memorial Park, creating edible community gardens at Pro-Vision School and the Westbury neighborhood, adding color to the Denver Harbor entrance esplanade, and cleaning sections of Acres Homes.
