Bill Walsh: Healthy Building Network

Green Building Resource Center
City of Houston Public Works and Engineering

1002 Washington Avenue

Indoor Environmental Quality: The seminar is a marvelous opportunity to hear from a premier source of information in this arena, the Executive Director of the Healthy Building Network (HBN), founded by Bill Walsh in 2000. HBN has been a leader in creating tools that encourage the use of healthier building products including the Green Guide for Health Care, new pilot credits in LEED and the Pharos Project - an online evaluation tool for building materials.

Mr. Walsh spoke at Gulf Coast Green three years ago and at Greenbuild 2011 where he addressed a standing room crowd as he introduced a new tool for the green building movement: the Health Product Declaration. If you are concerned about what kind of toxic materials are present in your environment, this declaration is an open standard format which encourages the standardized disclosure of content and health hazard information about building products.

See https://www.greenhoustontx.gov/gbrceducation.pdf for more details and a map.
Please note that this will contribute to LEED AP credential maintenance for Live Presentations.

Green buildings provide greater energy efficiency, saving money for owners and users and the reuse of materials is better for the environment. Ultimately, they foster a happier and healthier workplace for employees. The Green Building Resource Center hosts periodic programs to educate the public about green building practices.
