Education Seminar

Reading Towards Sustainability

Wednesday, December 17, 2014 -- 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
at the Green Building Resource Center
1002 Washington Avenue, Houston 77002
In partnership with the Texas Gulf Coast Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council

New and Improved! For the past three years, the Green Building Resource Center Program Director, Steve Stelzer, featured a slide presentation of many quotes from a plethora of interesting books based upon his 2003 "The Blind Men and the Elephant" book list.  He just renamed it "Continuing Education 101," because books allow readers to:

  • to explore subjects in depths that are either abbreviated or getting no coverage in the mainstream media;
  • keep up with current thought leaders;
  • gain insight into the whys of green building and behavior; and
  • explore the cultural issues and what we've recently learned about the human brain.

Quoting Thomas Carlyle, "What we become depends on what we read after all of the professors have finished with us"  lending credence to the new book list title.

Steve will also share some handy sources for researching book titles and book reviews to enable attendees to better select other books in this genre.  Perhaps some of these titles might just be the perfect gift for someone you know.
