Neighbors Helping Neighbors to eliminate remaining Hurricane Ike debris

Dear Fellow Houstonians,

Together we have made tremendous strides in ridding our community of storm debris from Hurricane Ike.  But, there is still some work to be done.   Over the next three Saturdays, November 15, 22nd and 29th, individual volunteers, social and faith-based organizations will fan out across Houston to assist elderly and disabled residents eliminate the remaining debris from around their homes.

If you would like to join the effort, visit www.houstontx.gov and click on the Neighbor Helping Neighbor banner to register your organization to help.   Seniors, over 60, and Houstonians who are disabled can call 3-1-1 to register for assistance.

The Mayor's office for volunteers will help match volunteers with those who have requested assistance.  But please, if you know someone who may need your help, ask if you may assist.

Bill White
Mayor
