A message from the Joint Hurricane Housing Task Force: October 31st is the last day FEMA has agreed to pay for hurricane evacuees' housing -- UNLESS evacuees RECERTIFY  themselves and their families.  To help with that, we have an Evacuee Workshop set up this Wednesday, September 13, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. It will take place at the West Gray Multi-Service Center, 1475 West Gray. Evacuees are asked to bring All of their FEMA documents. We need your help in getting the word out to evacuees. The time grows very short and many have not yet recertified. For more information, you can call 713-715-6500. There is also help for evacuees looking for work. The WorkSource can provide the following free or reduced-cost services to those who qualify:

  • Help in applying for open jobs in and around Houston
  • Job training
  • Childcare assistance
  • Help with transportation to and from job and job training sites  such as bus passes, tokens, or metro cards
Call the WorkSource for more details at 1-888-469-JOBS or visit https://www.theworksource.org. Thanks for your help.
