City of Houston Illegal Billboards Come Down

Seven illegal billboards are coming down in the city's extra territorial jurisdiction (ETJ) following a City of Houston legal victory after several years of enforcement action against the company Hang Em High, Ltd, and its associated company, Sign Ad. These signs were never permitted and violate the city's prohibition on new billboards within the city limits and in the ETJ.

Signs will be removed from following locations on the specified dates and times:

  • 3800 State Highway 6 South, Houston 77082, at the Westpark Toll Road - Thursday, January 19, 2012, beginning at 8 a.m. and conclude by Monday, January 23, 2012.
  • 20196 Eastex Freeway, New Caney 77357, .2 miles South of FM1485 - Monday, January 23, 2012, beginning at 8 a.m. and conclude by Thursday, January 26, 2012.
  • 3515 FM 1960 East, Humble 77338, .2.8 miles East of Highway 59 - Thursday, January 26, 2012, beginning at 8 a.m. and conclude by January 30, 2012.
  • 4550 FM 1960 East, Humble 77338, .6 miles West of Timber Forest - Monday, January 30, 2012, beginning at 8 a.m. and conclude by Thursday, February 2, 2012.
  • 5250 FM 1960 East, Humble 77338, .2 miles West of Timber Forest - Thursday, February 2, 2012, beginning at 8 a.m. and conclude by Monday, February 6, 2012.
  • 15511 Kuykendahl, Houston 77014, South of FM1960 - Monday, February 6, 2012, beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday, and conclude by February 9, 2012.
  • 19224 Kuykendahl, Spring 77379, South of Spring Cypress - Thursday, February 9, 2012, beginning at 8 a.m. and conclude by Monday, February 13, 2012.

There are no monetary damages at this time, although citations were issued to the company for using the illegal signs. As part of the plea agreement, the City has agreed to dismiss these citations when Hang Em High removes all the signs.
