September 27, 2012 Kashmere Gardens Neighborhood Cleanup Saturday, September 29 In an effort to improve the quality of life for residents, the City of Houston Department of Neighborhoods (DON) is partnering with Kashmere Gardens Super Neighborhood Council #52, the Northeast Concerned Citizens Civic League and community supporters to conduct a cleanup project in Kashmere Gardens, Saturday, September 29, 2012, 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. Volunteers are needed to help with the cleanup. The organizations and community volunteers will meet promptly at 8 a.m. at the Harris County Kashmere Annex, 3815 Cavalcade, Houston 77026, to receive instructions and supplies and get energized for the task at hand. The cleanup will target areas along Cavalcade Road, from the Eastex Freeway to Homestead Road. Volunteers will de-litter approximately 2.3 miles of the major thoroughfare. The cleanup will also focus on an abandoned property at the corner of Lockwood and Cane Streets. The property is not only an eyesore but also safety hazard. Volunteers will mow the grass, clean a nearby bus stop and remove debris and trash. The project is supported by DON, Solid Waste Management Department, Council Member District B Jerry Davis, Keep Houston Beautiful and other community partners.
