September 23, 2010
You are invited to join the Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs and Houston City Council Members Wanda Adams, Jolanda "Jo" Jones and James G. Rodriguez at the Latino Art Beat reception on Thursday, September 30, 2010 from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. to recognize area high school competition winners. The reception will be held in the Program Place on the fourth floor of the Houston Public Library Central, 500 McKinney, 77002.
While Latino Art Beat is a Chicago-based nonprofit arts organization, it awards scholarships to high school students all over the country through its annual arts competition, which is held in May. Latino Art Beat's motto is "Celebramos la juventud, el Arte y la Cultura Hispana": We Celebrate Youth, Art and Hispanic Heritage and Culture. The theme is "What Hispanic Heritage and Culture Mean to Me."
After the reception, the artwork will be temporarily displayed on the fourth floor of the Central Library through October 15, 2010.
