Latino Art Beat Graphic

You are invited to join the Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs and Houston City Council Members Edward Gonzalez, Melissa Noriega and James Rodriguez at the Latino Art Beat reception on Thursday, October 8, from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. to recognize area high school competition winners. The reception will be held in the Concourse Meeting Room of the Central Library, 500 McKinney.

Latino Art Beat is a Chicago-based nonprofit arts organization that awards scholarships to high school students through its arts competition, which is held annually in May. Latino Art Beat's motto is "Celebramos la juventud, el Arte y la Cultura Hispana": We Celebrate Youth, Art and Hispanic Heritage and Culture. This year's theme is "What Hispanic Heritage and Culture Means to Me."

After the reception, the artwork will be temporarily displayed on the fourth floor of the Central Library throughout the month of October.

We look forward to seeing you all there. For more information, please contact Veronica Mosley in the Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs at 832.393.1053 or via email at
