ReBuild Houston Project Underway in District E
El Dorado Drive Intersection Improvement Project
ZIP Code Area: 77598
Construction on the $309,000 Intersection Improvement Project at El Dorado Boulevard and Eastcape Drive began in August 2015 and will continue through November 2015.
New features will include:
- Adding an eastbound left turn lane by removing a portion of the existing median. This new left turn lane will facilitate access to the locations along the north side of the intersection as well as offer a U-turn maneuver. There is currently no left turn lane for the eastbound approach.
- Signals for east and westbound left turns that will include a "flashing yellow arrow" which allows the turn but requires a yield to oncoming traffic.
- New energy-efficient LED traffic signal heads, resulting in a significant energy savings to the City and better visibility for motorists.
- Pavement markings, traffic control signs, new pedestrian signals and wheelchair ramps.
This project is funded through ReBuild Houston - the voter-approved pay-as-you-go plan to rebuild and maintain the City's aging drainage and street infrastructure, without incurring new long-term debt. This project is an active example of how ReBuild Houston is providing better streets, better drainage and a better future.
