ReBuild Houston Project Underway in Your Area
The ongoing Hayes Street Paving and Drainage Project will improve traffic mobility and drainage issues in the area. The $5.78M project, which runs along Hayes Street from Briar Forest to Wilcrest, is anticipated to be completed by April 2014.
The Hayes Street project has experienced delays due to unforeseen utility conflicts that have now been resolved. Project crews are approximately four weeks behind schedule because of the utility conflicts. However, with these issues resolved, crews were able to complete the Wilcrest waterline and it is expected that Wilcrest will be completely open within the next six to seven weeks.
This project involves the reconstruction of approximately 17,000 linear feet of four lane roadway, as well as the installation of storm sewer systems along Lakeside Place (from Hayes to Wilcrest) and along Wilcrest (from Lakeside Place to Lakeside Forest), new concrete gutter lines, accessible sidewalks, driveways, street lighting, traffic control and necessary underground utilities.
The ReBuild Houston Initiative is the City of Houston's voter approved pay-as-you-go plan to rebuild drainage and street infrastructure. Its goal is to improve the quality of life and mobility for residents through the reconstruction and proper maintenance of drainage and street improvements. The Hayes Street Paving and Drainage Project is an active example of ReBuild Houston at work to better serve you.
