ReBuild Houston Project Underway in District A
The Timber Oaks Asphalt Street Overlay Project will improve the area by removing old asphalt and replacing it with a new asphalt driving surface. This project, which includes 16 streets between W. Sam Houston Parkway N., Nocturne, I-10 and Hammerly, began in July 2013 and is anticipated to be completed by October 2013.
Asphalt street overlay projects aid in extending the life of a roadway. First, a milling crew will remove the old asphalt surface. Once the old asphalt is removed, a second crew will come in with an asphalt paving machine and apply a new road surface between 1" to 2" thick.
The ReBuild Houston Initiative is the City of Houston's voter-initiated "pay-as-you-go" plan to rebuild drainage and street infrastructure. ReBuild Houston will help improve the quality of life and mobility for residents through the reconstruction and proper maintenance of drainage and street improvements. The Timber Oaks Asphalt Street Overlay Project is an active example of ReBuild Houston at work to better serve you.
