ReBuild Houston Project Underway in District E
Safe Sidewalk Program - Kingwood Drive Sidewalk Project

The Kingwood Drive Sidewalk Project, part of the Safe Sidewalk Program, will improve sidewalk conditions by reconstructing walkways that have deteriorated beyond normal maintenance and repair.

The first segment of the Kingwood Drive Sidewalk Project is scheduled to begin at Sorters Road on October 6, 2014. The project will continue to US Highway 59 along the south side of Kingwood Drive and is anticipated to be complete in approximately one month. The next segment of the Kingwood Drive project will progress from US Highway 59 along the north side of Kingwood Drive to Green Oaks Drive. This project segment is expected to be complete by December 19, 2014. During this time, please expect outside lane closures due to construction activities.

The Safe Sidewalk Program, carried out by the city's Public Works & Engineering Department, provides sidewalks and ramps within the public right-of-way for pedestrians to use around schools and major thoroughfares. The program also serves to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.

The ReBuild Houston Initiative is the City of Houston's voter approved pay-as-you-go plan to rebuild drainage and street infrastructure. Its goal is to improve quality of life and mobility for residents through the reconstruction and proper maintenance of drainage and street improvements. The Kingwood Drive Sidewalk Project is an active example of ReBuild Houston at work to better serve you.
