CITY OF HOUSTON TO SAVE MORE THAN $70 MILLION FROM RENEGOTIATED DISPOSAL AND TRANSFER STATION CONTRACTS

Mayor Bill White and Houston City Council have unanimously approved the revised waste disposal contract between the Solid Waste Management Department and Republic Waste Services Inc.  The negotiations for this contract revision began almost a year ago, and the results are a savings to the taxpayers of Houston of $70 million over the term of the new agreement, and a savings of more than $150 million from the original agreement.
