Mayor's Make Safe Saturday - Manchester Neighborhood

The Mayor's quarterly Make Safe Saturday initiative will clean the blighted abandoned property located at 9504 East Avenue I at 95th Street, Houston 77012 on Saturday, September 28 from 9 a.m. - noon.

Mayor Annise Parker and City Council District I Member James Rodriguez will kick off Make Safe Saturday at 9 a.m., joined by members of the Manchester Civic Association and Magnolia-Pineview Place Civic Club.

Mayor Parker and Council Member Rodriguez will then meet and speak briefly with neighborhood residents between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.

Crews from the Department of Neighborhoods (DON) Inspections & Public Service Division (IPS) will clean the lot and secure the abandoned house.

Beautification Project - Magnolia/Pineview Place

From 8 a.m. - noon on Saturday, September 28, a beautification project will take place on the esplanade between the 7700 and 8800 blocks of East Navigation Boulevard 77012. The project will also include de-littering on Avenue B, from 71st Street to 75th Street, and cleanup of a bus yard that was the site of illegal dumping at 900 78th Street 77012.

Volunteers with the Magnolia/Pineview Place Civic Club, Manchester Civic Club, Families 4 Better Communities, Greater East End Management District, East End Collaborative, Keep Houston Beautiful and Compassionate Houston will help with the project, with corporate support provided by Alloy Carbide Company.

Mayor Parker will visit briefly with neighborhood residents at the volunteer registration site at 8100 East Navigation Boulevard at Avenue H 77012 between 10:45 and 11:45 a.m.

The project is sponsored by DON IPS in collaboration with BARC Animal Shelter and Adoptions (BARC), Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPRD), Houston Police Department (HPD), Public Works & Engineering Department (PWE) and Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD).
