October 9, 2014 Workshops for Tenants and Landlords: October 9 and 11 In cooperation with the Gulfton Super Neighborhood Council and the Office of State Representative Gene Wu, the Department of Neighborhoods Mayor's Citizens' Assistance Office invites the public to workshops exploring the rights and responsibilities of tenants and landlords. The workshops, entitled "Stronger Apartment Communities for Residents and Owners- Understand Your Rights and Responsibilities," will take place on Thursday, October 9, 6 to 8 p.m., at Baker Ripley Neighborhood Centers, 6500 Rookin Street 77074 and Saturday, October 11, 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at the Southwest Multi-Service Center, 6400 High Star Drive 77074. Workshop participants will hear from experts about lease requirements, owner responsibilities, requesting repairs, code violations and how to access legal services. Invited speakers will include representatives from the Houston Apartment Association, Lone Star Legal Aid, Greater Houston Fair Housing and the City's Housing and Community Development Fair Housing Division.
