City of Houston Public Works and Engineering Department to Perform Condition Assessment on 96-Inch Diameter Water Line as Part of Texas Department of Transportation Clinton Drive Reconstruction
Water Pressure May Be Impacted
October 28, 2016

The Texas Department of Transportation and Harris County are currently designing improvements to Clinton Drive from North Wayside Drive to IH-610 which include rebuilding the entire four lanes of pavement and making adjustments to underground utilities.  The underground utility work will require shutting down the 96-inch (8-foot) diameter water transmission main along Clinton Drive. The City plans to make use of this required shut down to assess the condition of the 96-inch water line and make other improvements and repairs to it.

Distribution system adjustments coupled with some operational changes have been made to offset any potential impacts to water service.  However, residents in affected areas may notice lower than typical water pressure until the project is complete. The current schedule is to shut the water line down at the end of October 2016 and to return it to service before February 2017.

The safe delivery of water is our main goal and we are working to complete the assessment and related work as quickly as possible. Please call 311 to report any water service concerns. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
