**********

Homeownership provides a sense of security to families and promotes strong neighborhoods. So, we are proud to announce that as of December 2008, Houston Hope has helped hundreds of families to purchase quality affordable homes in re-energized areas of the city. Houston Hope is Mayor Bill White's initiative to reinvest in several of Houston's historic neighborhoods through a combination of stabilizing activities such as coordination of public safety programs, rehabbing existing homes, providing quality new affordable homes, and improving infrastructure and drainage.

GREAT NEWS

  • Down payment assistance in the Houston Hope areas has increased from $30,000 to $37,500.
  • We have dozens of families that have moved into their new home.  Please welcome our new Acres Homes neighbors!

Success Story

Ms. Tomeka Harris, an accounts payable clerk, is a young single mom with two small children.  Ms. Harris wanted a house with a yard where her children could run and play. However, she knew she needed to work on her credit history first. Fortunately, Re-Ward Third Ward, a Community Development Corporation, advised her on how to improve her credit score. Soon, her dream of home ownership seemed closer. Finally, the down payment assistance from Houston Hope made her dream a reality when she closed on her new home last month!
