Dear Houston Hope Community Residents,
We are proud to bring you the June/July 2007 monthly update on Houston Hope. Houston Hope is Mayor Bill White's initiative to reinvest in several of Houston 's older neighborhoods by providing affordable housing and improving infrastructure and drainage. As a participant of the Houston Hope initiative, potential buyers may qualify to receive up to $30,000 in down payment assistance.
Currently, the Land Assemblage Redevelopment Authority (LARA) has purchased 706 properties. For a breakdown of properties, sold, under contract with builders, to breaking ground and available, please see the listing for each individual neighborhood.
The City of Houston is also partnering with Urban Harvest, Inc. to bring a community garden in the Houston Hope Neighborhoods of Acres Homes and Fifth Ward
Historical fact: In the near future, residents of Near Northside will be able to take advantage of Metro's North Corridor rail line which is planned to connect downtown Houston with Near Northside and the Northline mall area via North Main and Fulton Avenue.
Avenue CDC will begin constructing new homes on Frawley St. and on Gano St .
