Dear Houston Hope Community Residents,

We are proud to bring you the June/July 2007 monthly update on Houston Hope. Houston Hope is Mayor Bill White's initiative to reinvest in several of Houston 's older neighborhoods by providing affordable housing and improving infrastructure and drainage. As a participant of the Houston Hope initiative, potential buyers may qualify to receive up to $30,000 in down payment assistance.

Currently, the Land Assemblage Redevelopment Authority (LARA) has purchased 706 properties. For a breakdown of properties, sold, under contract with builders, to breaking ground and available, please see the listing for each individual neighborhood.

The City of Houston is also partnering with Urban Harvest, Inc. to bring a community garden in the Houston Hope Neighborhoods of Acres Homes and Fifth Ward

TRINITY/HOUSTON GARDENS

Fact: “Trinity/Houston Gardens, takes its name from two communities: Trinity Gardens and Houston Gardens . Originally developed as communities just outside the city, each had oversized single-family home sites, allowing residents to have their own gardens.

LARA has purchased 115 properties in Trinity/Houston Gardens

Trinity/Houston Gardens Community News:

Greater Houston Development Incorporated has spearheaded the construction of new affordable homes as builder/ CDC in the construction of 2 homes in the targeted neighborhood. Construction is scheduled to begin July 2007.
