The 2014 City of Houston Investor Conference was a real success, with 140 registered attendees who saw presentations by the City’s Finance, Customer Utility Service, Airport System and Houston First as well as presentations by Harris County, Metro, the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority and the Houston Independent School District. The tours of the City’s Northeast Water Plant and Hobby Airport were both “sold out.” The luncheon speakers at the two-day conference were Dr. Stephen Klineberg, of Rice University’s Kinder Institute, and Bob Eury, executive director of the Houston Downtown Management District.
“It was very gratifying to have such a good turnout,” says City Controller Ronald Green. “Clearly, the City of Houston -- as well as the other jurisdictions who presented at the conference -- have exciting stories to tell. As a number of our attendees said, there should be no hesitancy about investing in Houston’s future.”
