City Controller Sylvia R. Garcia today will dedicate the 8th floor City Hall conference room to the late Roy B. Oakes, the former City Controller who served a record 27 years in the position, from 1945 to 1972. During the 2 p.m. ceremony, Controller Garcia will provide a brief history of the office and the elected officials who held the position.

Members of City Council and the City administration are expected to attend. Special recognition will be given to members of the Oaks family.

Refreshments for the event are paid for with private funds.
