The Council Member Edwards’ Community Empowerment Signature Series launched with a screening of "The Strange Demise of Jim Crow," a film detailing the peaceful desegregation of Houston. Following the film, was a community dialogue featuring a panel of youth and young adults, as well as community leaders with the purpose of unpacking how strategies from the Civil Rights Era may be used to solved modern-day community issues.
