Amy Peck, Chief of Staff
Amy Peck serves as the Chief of Staff for Council Member Brenda Stardig. Amy lives in District A and is an active member of the community. Prior to working for Council Member Stardig, Amy previously served the community on the state level of government. She worked for Senator Jon Lindsay in his Austin and Houston offices and most recently was the District Director for Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick when he was a state senator. Prior to her work in government, Amy counseled veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder at Michael E. DeBakey VA Hospital. Amy earned bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Government from the University of Texas at Austin and a master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston.
Elizeth Miranda, Director of Constituent Services
Elizeth is a proud staff member and resident of District A. She graduated from the University of Houston Downtown with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. She has served the City of Houston since 2013, where she started as an intern for Council Member Gonzalez. Soon after graduation, she transitioned to District A where she serves as the Director of Constituent Services. Elizeth has a passion for public service and community outreach. She loves to cook, walk, learn new things, and spend time with her family.
Laura Thorp, Constituent Liaison
Laura joined District A after completing six years in the office of Council Member Mayor Pro-Tem Gonzalez as his Constituent Services Director. Laura has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Texas. Prior to her employment with the City of Houston, she worked as a Graphic Designer alongside her husband in their own design business. During her many years as a resident of the Houston Heights she has been an active participant in community affairs. She served as Board Member of the Houston Heights Association from 1998-2004 and as President in 2001. Her many neighborhood accomplishments include: participating in the organization of the first Heights Home Tour and serving as Chair, volunteering her home for multiple tours, working to gather support for Minimum Lot Size and Building Line Ordinances, being active in Deed Restriction drives and supporting and gathering signatures for the creation of the Houston Heights East Historic District. Laura continues to volunteer and enjoys spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren.
Rachel Maxcy, Event Coordinator and Scheduler
Rachel serves as the Council Member’s Events Coordinator and Scheduler and loves putting together events that help the community and the city of Houston. She is a born and raised Houstonian and only left for college but returned as quickly as she could. Rachel is an alum of Johnson & Wales University- Charlotte and has a Bachelor of Science in Sports, Entertainment, Event Management with Concentrations in Community Relations and Marketing Communications. She currently also serves as the Programming Team Lead for the Houston Alumni Association of Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority. In her spare time, she volunteers as a leader in an area AWANA club, spends times with family and friends, likes to learn new hobbies, and is an avid sports fan and loves rooting for the Houston home teams. Rachel looks forwards to bringing District A unique events that lets neighbors get to know each other and to grow as a community in the coming years.
