Patton @ Irvington Intersection

Council Member Karla Cisneros is working with the City of Houston Public Works Department to design changes to the Patton & Irvington intersection. The intersection has been identified as a problem by Houston Public Works due to its history of left-turn related crashes, and after Council Member Cisneros expressed the concerns of several community members who frequently travel through that intersection, Public Works developed three design alternatives to reduce the number of accidents there.

The three designs include:

1. Reducing the lanes along Irvington from two lanes to one lane in each direction.

2. Closing the median to create hooded left turns from Irvington. This option eliminates the ability to turn left from Patton onto Irvington.

3. Replacing the stop signs and altering the intersection to include a roundabout. Roundabouts eliminate left turn conflicts and are safer than other signaled intersections.
