CITY OF HOUSTON MUNICIPAL COURTS PARTNERS WITH HPD IN TEXAS ROUND-UP INITIATIVE

The City of Houston's Police Department will be among more than 160 law enforcement
jurisdictions
across Texas as participants in the "Great Texas Warrant Round-Up:, which officially begins Saturday, February 16, 2008. This statewide initiative will target people who have outstanding warrants with their respective Municipal Court. In Houston alone, thousands could be affected.
The City of Houston Municipal Courts reveals that defendants in their system with outstanding warrants number in the tens of thousands. Although no amnesty is being offered by the Courts in conjunction with the Round-Up efforts, citizens are encouraged to take advantage of the many avenues available to settle outstanding warrants to avoid being arrested. Once the warrant period begins on the 16th, officers will aggressively target those persons on the warrant list.
Notices have been mailed to all defendants with active warrants pending against them.
