CITY RESUMES ISSUING WARRANTS AT NORMAL VOLUMES USING NEW COMPUTER SYSTEM

Municipal Courts Dept. LogoNovember 21, 2006 -- City of Houston Municipal Court officials announced today that approximately 47,000 delinquent defendants who failed to take action on their cases while a new case management computer system was instituted over the last several months could now face arrest. The case management system began on April 1, 2006.  Court officials delayed the issuance of warrants to review all of these delinquent cases and verify the accuracy of the data coming out of the new system.

That review has now been completed and judges have begun issuing arrest warrants. Each defendant will be mailed a notice and will be subject to arrest.

If a citizen believes that he/she received this notice in error, they have from November 27, 2006 until December 22, 2006  to contact the court . Defendants can call 713.731.3940 (between the hours of 8 am to 7pm on Monday through Friday).  Those who wish to resolve their warrant are asked to go to the Municipal Courts located at 1400 Lubbock Street, Houston, Texas 77002.
