PAY AND DISPLAY STATIONS INSTALLED AT MUNICIPAL COURTS PARKING LOT

Municipal Courts LogoJune 30, 2008 -- The installation of new pay-and-display stations in the Municipal Courts parking lot at 1400 Lubbock brings added convenience and efficiency for visitors to the Courts. Individuals who park at 1400 Lubbock no longer have to wait in line to pay for parking or return to their vehicles to retrieve forgotten tickets.

Upon arrival at the lot, citizens will pay $3 for up to two hours or $6 for more than two hours of parking at one of the 17 pay stations available. Once payment is received, the pay station will print out a receipt that must be placed face up on the vehicle's dashboard. These receipts are only valid for parking in the Municipal Courts lot and cannot be used to park at metered parking spaces in other locations.

The installation of the pay stations also make it possible to reconfigure the lot to allow for 12 additional motorcycle parking spaces and two van accessible spaces.

The solar-powered wireless pay stations accept credit cards, cash or coins. The new technology is a convenience to citizens in keeping with Mayor Bill White's commitment to making City Hall the most efficient and effective in the nation.

Parking Management will have Ambassadors stationed at 1400 Lubbock to help visitors during the transition to the new technology. The Municipal Courts parking lot operates Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Parking for Jurors will continue to be provided free at Lot H, 1500 Memorial.
