COVID-19 Vaccines

Houston Eats Restaurant Support Program

The Health Equity Response (H.E.R.) Task Force created the Houston Eats Restaurant Support (H.E.R.S.) program, providing financial assistance to restaurants who in turn provide free meals to Houston residents. For more information and to find additional resources, visit the Resources page.

City Council approved a program to provide internet vouchers to low-income Houstonians. Mayor Sylvester Turner's Health Equity Response (H.E.R.) Task Force has partnered with Comcast to provide vouchers that will ensure qualifying applicants can continue to stay connected to the internet for education, work, and personal health reasons for one calendar year.

City Council approved a program to provide computers to low-income Houstonians. Mayor Sylvester Turner's Health Equity Response (H.E.R.) Task Force has partnered with Comp-U-Dopt, a non-profit that provides technology access and education to underserved youth, to distribute hundreds of computers for free to qualifying applicants from now until December 30, 2020.

City Council approved a multi-million dollar relief program to assist local restaurants and provide meals to Houstonians impacted by COVID-19. Mayor Sylvester Turner's Health Equity Response (H.E.R.) Task Force is partnering on the relief program with Lemond Kitchen, a local catering company. Lemond Kitchen will lead up to 25 local restaurants and catering companies in the production and delivery of up to 30,000 meals per week, through the end of the year.

City Council this week approved a $3 million relief fund to assist local child care centers in remaining open to serve families during the pandemic. Mayor Sylvester Turner's Health Equity Response (H.E.R.) Task Force will partner on the relief fund with Collaborative for Children, a local non-profit that works to improve the quality of early childhood education and care for Houston's children.

Mayor Sylvester Turner and Houston City Council announced a new relief program for musicians and music venues that have been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The City of Houston's Musicians and Music Venues Economic Relief Program is being funded with $3 million of the City's allocated CARES Act 2020 funds.

To help in the fight against COVID-19, the Mayor's Office of Education in collaboration with the Mayor's Health Equity Response Task Force developed a new initiative known as the COVID-19 Community Health Education Fellows (CHEF) Program. The program is designed to educate and empower at least 100 youth and young adults to help the City fight COVID-19, especially in the most vulnerable communities.
