Accessible Violation Parking Enforcement Volunteers Needed!!!

As part of Mayor Bill White's Volunteer Initiatives Program (VIP) Volunteer Initiatives Program (VIP), the Parking Management Branch of the Department of Public Works & Engineering holds volunteer trainings for citizens who are interested in getting involved in protecting their communities and helping to fight disabled parking abuse.

The Volunteer Parking Enforcement Program is designed to ensure that individuals, whose needs require accessible parking spaces, have those spaces available. With the generous help of citizen volunteers, Parking Management is better able to ensure parking space availability to those who need it most.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and are required to attend a 4-hour training session and pass a background check. Once complete, volunteers are empowered to issue citations to those who abuse disabled parking spaces.

Training will take place in the Parking Management offices at the George R. Brown Convention Center and refreshments are provided. The following dates and times have been scheduled for volunteer training sessions:

  • June 27, 2008 1 pm
  • July 11, 2008 9 am
  • July 25, 2008 1 pm
  • August 8, 2008 9 am
  • August 22, 2008 1 pm
  • September 5, 2008 9 am
  • September 9, 2008 1 pm

Upon completion of the 4-hour session, volunteers will be qualified to issue parking citations to vehicles violating accessible parking regulations throughout the City of Houston.
