History - Firehouse 29 was also a city hall/fire station originally built for the East End Volunteer Fire Department in 1945. It was located at Barkley and Winkler and was annexed in 1948 when it became Firehouse 29. It was relocated at Galveston Rd and Ahrens in 1977. It was originally a single engine company and in 1977 it became an engine, ladder, and ambulance company.
